The Pyramid of Giza

What are Pyramids?

Egypt has the most famous pyramids in the world. The pyramids that were built thousands of years ago for pharaohs and kings. Over 130 pyramids have been found in Egypt. Pyramid is defined as a polyhedron made by connecting a  polygonal base. The point on the top is called apex.  The Egyptian pyramids may have been modeled after a sacred, pointed statue. The  ben-ben  stone means the rays of the sun. The Egyptians Believed that when the pharaoh dies it  reaches heaven by the sun beams. The weight of the pyramid evens out on all sides of the pyramids base. Most of the weight is on the bottom of the pyramid. The higher you go the less weight it is. This allowed ancient civilizations to build very sturdy pyramids.

What is the most Famous Pyramid?

The most famous pyramid is the Pyramid of Giza near Cairo. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is one of the largest pyramids in the world. It is one of the seven wonders of the world that is still in existence.

It is built with 1.3 million limestone's. The weigh anywhere from 5,000 pounds to 30,000 pounds. It's four sides face north, south, east, and west precisely. It used to be 488 feet tall but now it is455 feet tall. No one really knows for sure how the Great pyramid of Giza was made. Without the technology and machines to build the Great  Pyramid of Giza The Egyptians still managed to build a very sturdy pyramid. Some experts believe that the believe the pyramids could have been built with as few as 20,000-30,000 workers. Other experts, however, argue that it might have taken over 100,000 workers.

Clara Barton

Clara Barton is widely honored in American history. She was born on December 25 1821 as Clarissa Harlowe in  Oxford, Massachusetts. Her career started when her brother David was sick. She was the first women in the federal government. She worked at the United States Patent Office in Washington D.C. She was also a nurse and a humanitarian. When the civil war began in 1861 she recognized that there was a need of help for the poor soldiers. Instead of waiting for people to take action, she started getting supplies by herself. She asked people for donations, and stored them to distribute them to the soldiers. She helped the soldiers in many ways. She read to them, wrote letters, and prayed for them.

Clara Barton repeatedly kept asking the government and military for permission to bring her voluntary services and supplies to the places they were needed the most. After the Battle of Cedar Mountain in Northern Virginia in August 1862, She arrived at a field hospital with all of her supplies and was ready to help. From that time she was called, “The angel of the battlefield,”. She helped people in the worst parts in the Civil War and small battles in the Civil war. It didn’t matter to her she just wanted to help no matter what. She often put her own life in danger because she was willing to travel to the front lines in the battle.

In 1869, Clara went to Europe and learned about the International Committee of the Red Cross. She successfully founded the American Red Cross In 1881 at the age of 60! She lead the American Red Cross for the next 23 years. In 1896 she traveled to Istanbul to respond to the humanitarian crisis. She also opened the first American Red Cross headquarters in Beijing, China. She worked in hospitals in Cuba at the age of 77. she didn’t retire from the Red Cross until she was 83 years old! This is the story of Clara Barton's life story.

black Friday

 What's Black Friday

Black Friday is when lots of people go to stores and get better discounts. The items are much cheaper then the normal price. The three things that I found interesting about Black Friday is
1. they have a new shopping day called cyber Monday. Cyber Monday is when people don't want to fight the crowd.
2. A similar day in Canada and Great Britain is called boxing day.
3. My last interesting thing that I learned about black Friday is historians believed that the Philly started the name Black Friday. This topic is related to Thanksgiving because the people buy things the day after Thanksgiving. That's why it is related to Thanksgiving.

My Opinion on Black Friday

My opinion on Black Friday is that people are going nuts on shopping. They get up so early at 3:00 in the morning and go shopping. The people there are so crazy that they get violent. I formed this opinion by watching the news showing people fighting and throwing things at each other. The resources that I used to get information on this topic is from Wonderopilis.org. People would think this is exciting because some people don't know what Black Friday is. My final thought about Black Friday is it should be a calm and normal day like any other shopping days and no violence. This is my opinion on Black Friday.

My top ten list

My top ten list is about What the deals are on Black Friday.
1. lg55 inch 1080p120 led tv is 499.99 dollars.
2. Samsung 65 inch 1080p for 999.99 dollars. regular price1,499,99
3. vision series 50 inch for 599.99. Regular Price 799.99
4. Sony smart with wifi blu ray player for 54.99 dollars. regular price189.99.
5. Samsung galaxy s4 free with two year contract. regular price 199.99 dollars.
6. lg for 24.99 dollars with a two year contract. Regular price 199.99 dollars.
7. Microsoft Surfacer32 gb 199.99. Regular price 349.99 dollars.
8. Mac Book Pro 13 inch with retina display 1,099 dollars. Regular price 1,299.99 dollars
9. ipad air with wifi 16 gb for 1449.99 dollars. Regular price 1499.99 dollars.
10. HP envy touch smart lap top 329.99 dollars. Regular price 799.99 dollars.

My Final Question about Black Friday Is........
My Question is why do people have to be so violent. They should  act like normal people. My challenge is how much money do average people buy? How Much profit do they get back? My thought is do other countries except America, great Britian and Canada? How do they do it? Is it all crazy and crowded or calm and respectful. This is how I feel about Black Friday. I hope you liked My Blog on Black  Friday. Please comment on the comment box below.

Do you know what is Sternutation?

Do you know what is Sternutation?

Sternutation is scientific name of sneezing (Ackchooo…..)

So, why do you sneeze?

Sneezing is a body’s natural way of getting rid of something irritating your nose.. It begins with a tickling sensation in the nerve endings that sends a message to your brain that it needs to get rid of something irritating the lining of your nose

If you sneeze that means that you are allergic to something. Dust, cold air, pepper etc can irritate your nose and trigger a sneeze. When germs and viruses make a home in your nose that can cause swelling and more sneezing.
Sneezes travel fast and furiously. A single sneeze can travel as fast as 100 miles per hour. That means your body can send 100,000 germs at that speed. No wonder we can contract the flu so easily during flu season

Although your body does it automatically sneezing involves many complex coordination of several different parts of the body, belly muscles, chest muscles, diaphragm, muscle underneath your lungs and your eyelids make a sneeze. Your eyelids are important in this sneezing process because you don’t want to see what germs fly into the air. Sneezing protects your body by clearing bacteria and viruses from the nose.

When teachers and parents tell you to sneeze in tissue or your inner elbow they know what they are talking about because that can give other people your germs which is not good.

Some interesting facts about sneezing :

  • The person who had the longest sneezing spree was 978 days straight.
  • People don’t sneeze when they are asleep because the nerves involved in nerve reflex are also resting.

  • We can’t sneeze and keep our eyes open–and no one knows why
  • Our heart does not stop when we sneeze
  • How we sneeze says smoothing about us.
  • When we sneeze it can travel up to 5 feet away
  • The bacteria from our explosion into the air can spread up to 150 feet away
  • After a person sneezes people say God bless you” or similar thinhs in other languages
  • Plucking stray hairs on your face may trigger a nerve that supplies your sneeze nerve
  • Sunshine will make one out of three people sneeze.
  • Sometimes workout may make you sneeze

Some interesting videos about sneezing :

secrets of advertisements

Introduction: Many techniques are in advertising. Two of the techniques that the commercial below and above focuses on are emotional appeal and plain folks. Emotional appeal is a technique that makes you feel an emotion. Plain folks is a technique that is designed to send messages to a person or product. I chose these two techniques in advertising because they are one of the the most common things used in adds. This add above shows emotional appeal because it shows people doing  a dancing in front of a mirror. this means that it shows the kid in side them.   the other add uses plain folks because it is sending a message to the people that you should by this product.
These are the 9 examples of techniques used in a add.
Bandwagon / Snob Appeal: That means when you feel that if you don't have that product  you're not cool. Here it says if you like Tiger woods than you would like TagHuer.

2.

Emotional Appeal: It makes you feel an emotion, like this ad baby being safe.

3.

Transfer: It uses feeling on one thing to make you feel the same way.
4.
Testimonial: Endorsement by a famous person. Here they are using a famous person to sell pimple medicine.

5.

Stereo Type: When you are an expert or a famous person: Here they are telling us that black man are strong.

6.

Name Calling: Insults other products or companies. Here is puts down people who wear fur.

7.
Card Stacking: Make your product sound good.
Here marines are using travel benefit

8.
Glittering Generalities: Slogans with emotions in it. Here they are saying that if you drink coke everything will be better.
9.

Plain Folks: Design to send message to person or product. Here they are talking to people who want to lose weight.

Two techniques that I will tell you that makes a good advertisement.

Emotional Appeal

This add shows emotional appeal because it shows babies roller skating which is unusual for babies to roller skate at that age. They are appealing too our sense of humor. The babies are trying to tell women who are pregnant or have a young babies that ovian lotion is very affective on babies and makes them happy. All the mother wants is to keep the babies happy. All the mother want wants is too see their baby feeling comfortable and smiling and laughing. The babies are so cute when they are smiling, laughing and having fun with the other babies.

What do you think of Quin Shi Huang Ti?

Quin Shi Huang Ti

At the age of 13 Quin Shi Huang Ti became the emperor of China. He is considered the founder of China. In his 35-year reign, he managed to create magnificent and enormous construction projects. He also caused both incredible cultural and intellectual growth, and much destruction within China.

He took care of his army very nicely. He made sure none of them and their family members go without food. He made sure that they have shelter as well. If he didn't like anybody he would take his army and army tanks right in front of their house so they could not escape.

He also had bad side. In my opinion, he was a very cruel man.  He would kill family members right in front of  another family members to make them scared of him. He made his wives drink a little poison but after they awoke he buried them alive.

He  would make someone make a clay soldier right in front of him and if they didn't he would take his sword out and chop their head off. The next person he asks the same question and he /she listens to him because they see a head on the ground.

As he entered middle age, the First Emperor grew more and more afraid of death. He became obsessed with death and started looking for finding the elixir of life, which would allow him to live forever.

Qin Shi Huang Ti viewed different views as threats to his authority, so he ordered all books not related to his reign burned in 213 B.C. The Emperor also had approximately 460 scholars buried alive in 212 for daring to disagree with him, and 700 more stoned to death. From then on, the only approved school of thought was legalism: follow the emperor's laws, or face the consequences.

Among other things he is most known for

1) The Terracotta Army:
To guard Qin Shi Huang in the afterworld, and perhaps allow him to conquer heaven as he had the earth, the emperor had a terracotta army of at least 8,000 clay soldiers placed in the tomb. The army also included terracotta horses, along with real chariots and weapons.
  • Each soldier was an individual, with unique facial features (although the bodies and limbs were mass-produced from molds).
  • 7000 clay soldiers of Chin's tomb
  • The height and uniform also vary by rank.
  • 9 sculptures are over 2200 years
  • local farmers discover the clay soldiers while digging for water.
  • over 650 horses are part of the army.
  • Its believed that the clay soldiers held real weapons.
  • emperors tomb contains simulated rivers.
  • there are many tombs that haven't been dug yet.
  • more than 200 pieces have been smashed.
  • they haven't opened Mr. Ti's tomb

This is a Movie on Quin Shi Huang Ti.

These are the photos of Quin's army  and his tomb where he and his wife got buried.

    2) The Great wall of China:
He ordered laborers to link together the defensive works against enemy already built by the former states. That was the forerunner of the modern Great Wall which is 5,000-kilometer long. It took 36 years and 700,000 to complete the great wall of china. It took 36 years and 700,000 to complete the great wall of china.

This is a picture of where the great wall of China is.

Super Croc Reborn

Introduction

A 110 million years ago a 10 ton crocodile walked on the earth.  Super Croc was as long as 40 feet that's as long as 8 metric tons which is 17,500 pounds. Sarcosuchus  means flesh eating crocodile. Did you know that super croc was discovered  by Dr. Lapperant.
In the documentary "Prehistoric Super Crocs could return to Florida" It talks about the new super croc that's 25 feet long. The video that I put below the documentary  talks  about the 25 foot long super croc which is still alive. the one below which is the documentary that also talks about the new super and the old one. In the video it also talks about how Super croc could return to Florida because two people went on a boat and saw a 15 feet crocodile that will soon become 20 feet in a couple years.

Personal  Thoughts

According to the article "Ancient Super Croc Had Cousins" He had 5 crocodile cousins Dog Croc, Pancake Croc, Rat Croc, Duck Croc,  and Boar Croc. Dog Croc was another upright croc. His nose was shaped like a dog, it ate mostly plants and grubs. It could run too ,but scientists say it likely used its speed to run from larger dinosaurs. The Pancake Croc was the largest  of  the new finds, but it was not as large as super croc. Pancake Croc could take down three times its size. It kept its flat head low to the ground, waiting for its next meal. Duck croc Is three feet long and used its long ,narrow snout to search shallow waters for its dinner of fish and frogs. Rat Croc was 3 feet long and ate plants and grubs. It stood upright and used buckteeth in its lower jaw to dig for food. And super crocs last cousin is the Boar croc. it was 20 feet long and had three rows of fangs. It stood upright and ran fast. It used its fangs to slice up its dinosaurs prey.

My Top ten Facts about Super Croc.

1. Super Crocs skull was 6 feet long.

2. Super Croc had five cousins  Dog Croc, Pancake Croc, Rat croc, Boar Croc, and Duck Croc.

3. Super Croc was found 110 million years ago.
